Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her initial roles on Broadway included in Musicals Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh has been collaborating on projects with award-winning directors, actors, and producers throughout her career. Ashford will next be seen in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as part of the Hulu limited series Welcome to Chippendales from creator Robert Siegel premiering on November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust with Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of a Hulu Original. Ashford will return in 2023, and will play opposite Josh Groban at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre to perform the revival of Stephensondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production is produced by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team who created Hamilton. Ashford has most recently played Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment which is based on the national crisis that swept up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over a century. She was in two seasons of hit CBS comedy B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie In You Can't Take It with You. Also, she has appeared in Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first role in the role of Lauren In Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford was raised and born in Denver and is now dividing the time in Los Angeles, and New York.
